Jacqueline Gamboa, LCSW

Therapy is a space that allows individuals to acknowledge how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors contribute to who they are today. I believe the therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist is essential for the growing process.

My approach in therapy is to provide a supportive environment for clients to develop the tools needed to cope with life stressors, gain a deeper understanding of their internal thought to pursue their life goals and create a meaningful and fulfilling lifestyle.

  • I specialize in Trauma work, Disordered eating, and Mood disorders.

When I work with clients, I incorporate your strengths throughout our sessions to encourage you to pursue positive growth.

This allows you to gain a deeper understanding of your internal thoughts and behaviors and how they contribute to who you are.

  • I like to say that I didn’t choose the therapist life, the therapist life chose me. With the world being full of challenges that are difficult to navigate, I found myself often being the beacon of hope or compass that helped guide others into finding the courage and strengths to continue moving forward into a life they wanted to lead. Throughout the process of therapy, I provide a safe and non-judgmental space to share your story and take back your narrative. It is my passion to be a helping hand on your path to become truer to yourself and finding your self-energy. I meet clients where they are and cultivate a real relationship where you can feel understood with unconditional acceptance and positive reflection. So take a deep breath and let’s dive into this together.

Together let’s explore depression, anxiety, life transitions, and unhealthy relationships. I will meet you where you’re at to help you meet your goals and live the life you want to live.

During therapy, we will build coping skills to help you navigate day-to-day stressors, as well as uncover underlying issues that contribute to your symptoms. I’ll keep it straight with you, but in a gentle way.

  • I graduated with my Bachelors degree from Carthage College, then studied at Illinois State University where I earned my Masters of Science in Clinical-Counseling Psychology. When I’m not at the office I’m probably hanging out with my dog, a miniature dachshund named Maple, or at drag shows across the city.

I wholeheartedly believe in the power of therapy and the fact that everyone deserves a safe space to share, learn, and explore their own experiences throughout their life’s journey. My approach is best described as warm, compassionate, thoughtful, and direct. The idea of healing and growing is something that is continuous. We are the authors of our own stories, and we have the power to find our own narrative and write our next chapters.

  • I work with individuals across the lifespan and with couples. I specialize in supporting clients navigating OCD, anxiety, depression, life transitions, disordered eating, and relational conflict. I strive to create a warm, collaborative space where clients feel understood and empowered in their growth.

  • I earned my bachelor’s degree from Manchester University and completed graduate school at Adler University, where I focused on Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors in the city with my dog, Bullet.

  • I provide in-person and virtual sessions. Virtual sessions are available to residents across Illinois.
